Canadian Tire: Your electric vehicle destination

As one of Canada’s largest retail charging network hosts1 and a destination for EV tires, parts, chargers and more, we’re ready to help keep your vehicle humming.

Find what your electric vehicle needs

Explore our selection of EV tires, EV chargers and EV maintenance, accessories and replacement parts.

Do EVs require special maintenance?

Like ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles, EVs require routine maintenance and inspection of various systems and parts such as brakes and brake fluid, cabin filtration, tires, and alignment.

Tire Performance

Additional load is placed on an EV’s tires due to the instantaneous torque of its electric motor and the weight of its battery pack. The reduced engine noise can also make tire noise more noticeable.

Factory-installed tires are tailor-made to help maximize performance as defined by the vehicle manufacturer.

Battery Health

EVs have two battery systems: a high-voltage battery pack (400+ volts) that powers the motor to propel the vehicle and a low-voltage battery (12-volt) used to power lights, door locks, windows, and all other electrical equipment. Both battery systems require periodic testing to help ensure they are functioning within specifications. Like an ICE vehicle, a dead 12-volt battery will render an EV inoperable, so regular testing is critical.

Wear & Tear

EVs use regenerative braking, a system that captures energy during deceleration and converts it to charge the battery pack. EV drivers may find their mechanical brakes don’t wear out as quickly, but they should be inspected regularly to help maintain performance. Suspension parts (ball joints, shocks, etc.) on some applications have seen increased wear and tear when compared to ICE vehicles due to added EV weight. Follow your vehicle’s maintenance guide for inspections.

Auto Service

With over 5,500 service bays across approximately 500 stores coast to coast, you can trust Canada’s Garage for your EV tire installation and vehicle maintenance needs. Please contact your local Canadian Tire Auto Service Centre to confirm specific EV services offered.
